Tories to waste over £40m

October 19, 2009 1:30 PM

Sal Brinton Prospective MP for Watford was astonished to see a member of the Shadow Health Team, and local Tory MP announce the possibility of a review of the Watford Health Campus. Sal, having worked on and supported the project over the last seven years has written to the Shadow Secretary for Health for clarification if this was a policy statement or a way to grab the headlines. Sal has also written to the Chief Executive and Chairman of the trust confirming her continued support of the project.

Sal said: 'This project is not just of great importance to the Watford but the whole of South West Hertfordshire. In Watford local partners, EEDA, Watford FC, the Trust and Watford Borough council to deliver what will be a state of the art Health Campus with better access and facilities.

'To stop and review at at this stage would be a waste of more than £40m that has already been spent. This would be a disaster for everybody including Mr Penning's constituents who would have to continue to use the facilities here in Watford without any improvements whilst a review took place. I have written to seek clarification on the Conservative position on this. I will continue to support the Health Campus.'
