Sal Brinton Liberal Democrat Parliamentary Candidate for Watford has expressed her dismay at the closure of the bookshop Borders, which has a large branch on Waterfields Retail Park. The Borders chain has been placed into administration which means that insolvency experts will manage the company's affairs until its debts are cleared. All the staff employed by Borders are at risk, and, worryingly, those working in the popular Starbucks in Borders are also under threat.
Sal said "Regular customer of Borders and will be very sad if it has to close. We have seen far too many bookshops close in recent years, this is a particularly difficult blow to Watford as it is an enormous store with a great variety of specialist books."
Sal continues "I know that the run-up to Christmas is the busiest in the book trade and it is a terrible shame for Borders staff to have this uncertainty at this time."
